LOVING YOU Proudly Opens At The Auto & General Theatre on the Square

Join a star-studded cast for a hot, romantic and uplifting musical evening. LOVING YOU proudly opens at Sandton’s Auto & General Theatre on the Square for a three-week run from 28 January 2020 until 15 February 2020. Celebrated and award-winning musical theatre artists join together to serenade audience members, by recreating the big musical duets and love stories from Broadway.

LOVING YOU is a night where audiences will be taken on a musical journey through the stages and different kinds of love, as the cast sings about this most powerful of all human forces.

Where did you meet your beloved? When did you fall in love? What did your first heartbreak feel like? Most of the musicals written by famous composers have some kind of love story at its core – and it is that love that drives the narrative and transcends our favourite characters into a life of higher meaning.

From nostalgic musical hits like Let’s Fall in Love and Embraceable You, a taste of Andrew Lloyd Webber, pop musical favourites from Grease and Footloose, modern day hits like Someone Like You (Jekyll and Hyde), As Long as You’re Mine, Being Alive, as well as Burn (Hamilton), this performance of love songs from the musicals in concert will bewitch and bewilder you. It will, of course, be only about loving you! The cast will feature:

SHARON SPIEGEL-WAGNER (Grease; Aspects of Love, Hairspray, The Marvin Hamlisch Story, where she was nominated for best leading actress in a musical. Other credits include features in international and local films and TV as well as straight theatre).

DREW BAKKER (Evita; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; Into the Woods, the award-winning Polka Dots and several international US and European credits that include Cabaret; Gypsy and The Drowsy Chaperone).

LANCE MARON (Olive, Mame, A Slice of Saturday Night and other credits that include film and television features).

MUSANETE SAKUPWANYA (Mandela Trilogy; Calling Us Home, where he was nominated for a Fleur de Cap for best actor in a musical, Forever Plaid, and other credits that include a recording of a Gershwin song album and performances in operas).

LORRI STRAUSS (We Will Rock You; Rent; The Rocky Horror Show and other credits that include major television features).
